Rev Mike Harris
From SE London, I worked at British Rail HQ in London in the seventies! Called (by God, I think) to church ministry. Three years in Bristol (Trinity College) followed by a three year curacy in N.W. Kent, then in Church Stretton before a period in Penkridge and many years in Tamworth – chaired Covenanting Churches there and became Area Dean. I have also been involved in giving hope to homeless young people through a church-based Housing Association (TCHA).
Along with my wife, Moira (a good Scot), we moved into Highley in 2015 and have three grown up children who are now well scattered .
Highley is not your typical village. It is made up of a rich mix of old established families, newcomers and Shropshire grit (from the mines)! The church in Highley has two centres and it is a pleasure and privilege to have been given the opportunity to work alongside many committed people in the church and wider community (I’m a Governor at Highley Primary School).
My life-objective is to see everyone recognise Jesus as Lord, becoming ‘fully devoted followers of Christ’ (Hybels), an aim which I’ll not see fulfilled in my life-time. But I’m also very happy to see people move just one step in His direction as a starting point!
