Rev Canon Rose Lawley

Rev Canon Rose Lawley

Born in the Black Country, eventually, along with my family we moved to live in Kinver where my journey in God’s Church began.

Some years later after being a bellringer, chorister, PCC Treasurer and Churchwarden, I was asked whether I had ever considered ministry. Eventually following selection and training, I was licensed as a Lay Reader in Lichfield Diocese, however, this was not where my journey of service in the church would end, moving on to discernment, training and ordination.  I was ordained Deacon again in Lichfield Cathedral in 2003, being priested the following year at the church of St Thomas in Wednesfield.  Following curacy, along with my husband John we moved to Kidderminster where I took up the position of a Vicar in a Team of five churches, Industrial chaplain to one of the carpet factories and Town Centre Chaplain. Eventually the Team structure changed to include a further two churches making seven in all.  It was at this time that I became the Team Rector.

In June 2015, I was granted the great honour from the Bishop of Worcester of Honorary Canon of Worcester Cathedral.

Just over two years ago following my retirement, the next part of my journey in God’s church began here in Highley and the other churches in the Severn Valley Benefice.  I had been granted Permission of Officiate from the Bishop of Hereford and now help, support and am part of the ministry team here, for which I feel truly blessed.
