Open the Book

Open The Book Logo

Volunteer storytellers go into Highley Community Primary School and Kinlet Church of England School on Tuesday mornings.

Open the Book began  20 years ago when a group of Christians in Bedford wanted to take Bible stories into primary schools . This has grown to over 3,000 Primary school children hearing Bible stories told by teams throughout England and Wales .

The pupils love participating in the assemblies and are able to engage with the stories and the actors.

Regular training is provided to support storytellers.

This year sees the 20th Anniversary of Open the Book ; team members will be at a service of celebration in Gloucester Cathedral on Tuesday 14th of May .

On Saturday July 13th there  is a quiz in the Parish Hall to raise funds for the continued national development of Open the Book .

We will not hide them from their children , but tell to the coming generation the glorious deeds of the Lord, and His might , and the wonders that he has done .’ Psalm 78.4 ( ESV )
